This text is part of a series of books for the keen walker. Kent, known as "the garden of England", is a mixture of countryside, historic towns and coastal areas. There should be walks to appeal to all tastes, from Gravesend to the historic city of Canterbury, from Sheerness via Dover to Hythe on the coast, and from the countryside around Sevenoaks to the Romney Marsh.

The complete guide to Kent and East Sussex
One of the classic "Companion Guides", this is devoted to the English counties of Kent and Sussex. Each volume in the series aims to provide a comprehensive travel companion in the person of the author, who knows intimately the places and people of which he or she writes.

Hidden Places of Kent
This edition in the Hidden Places series covers the county known as "the garden of England", and helps the reader discover the attractive landscapes of this predominantly rural county. It is packed with information on the more secluded venues for food, accommodation and places of interest

A companion book featuring many family walks in and around the Kent Lakes and Rivers.

This book has historical information about cherry growing, and in particular about Kent. In the UK, Kent is the heart of cherry growing, and we learn about how cherries were introduced, the native varieties and how they got here, and then about cherry picking in general. It's full of anecdotes from the author, as well as serious information about cherry-based agriculture in general. All-in-all, this is a fascinating book, and a little sad, since uk cherries are now so difficult to find outside of Kent or London. I only wish the supermarkets would get wise, and stock the many interesting varieties grown in the UK.

Presents a history of Maidstone. The book investigates the development of the town from pre-Roman times to the late 20th-century and covers early growth to enhanced commmunal consciousness in the late Middle Ages. It is intended for local people or those with an interest in local history
